Blue Pictorial Craven A Enamel Sign

Amazing original Craven A enamel sign with cigarette pictorial in vivid blue, red and white colouring. Some rust around sign edges and on advertising packet with minor edging loss and scratches that is commensurate with a sign of vintage age. Certainly a head turner for all Tobaccoiana collectors.

The Craven A brand is owned by Rothmans, Bensons and Hedges Inc which were made in Canada, Japan and Vietnam. The cigarette was named after the third Earl of Craven (George Winston Craven) in 1860 and Craven A became the most famous cigarette in WWII. Craven A's history purportedly stems back to the Peninsular War with the Craven Mixture which was highly popular.
